Karnataka Golf Association Hosted The Purple Cup Supporting Disability Inclusion in Golf

Last month, Karnataka Golf Association in Bangalore, India hosted The Purple Cup, an initiative by EnAble India, to promote accessibility and experience of the golf course for those with disabilities, especially those with visual impairments. This marked the third edition of the Purple Cup, and it was excellent to see great participation with 76 golfers representing the corporate sector, the armed forces, and members of the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA).

50 golfers and enthusiasts took on the challenge of putting the ball blindfolded. As they navigated a putt into the hole within a 3-foot diameter marked around it, the players gained valuable insights into how golf players with vision impairments play the game. This experiential exercise also fostered a deeper understanding of disability and the solutions used by persons with disabilities among the participants.

The Golf Clinic was a resounding success! Over 35 individuals with vision impairment had the opportunity to receive coaching and experience the joy of playing golf at KGA. The golf enthusiasts have the opportunity to continue their golf training with Purple Academy, a collaborative initiative of EnAble India Inda and KGA.
